The New Journal of Medicine reports that seniors are not only engage in sexual intercourse, but more of it than you might think. The topic makes some people a little squeamish, but more of us are getting older and well.

Despite "bothersome" sexual problems many men and women remain sexually active well into their 70s and 80s.

Researchers surveyed more than 3,000 men and women between 57 and 85 years old.One of the most striking findings is that among the 75-85-year-olds who are still sexually active, more than half of them are having some kind of sexual intercourse at least two to three times in a month.

But for big pharma and investors this may be the most important result: only 14% has taken or is taking a prescription drug or some kind of supplement to fight erectile dysfunction even though nearly 40% said they have Erectile Dysfunction.

Dr. Mulhall says it's not the cost that's causing so much falloff.He claims a lot of patients think it's going to be a magic pill, don't realize their partner actually doesn't want to have sex, and that doctors and patients don't follow-up well enough with each other once a prescription has been written and filled. Dr. Mulhall has received consulting fees from PFE and LLY.

Viagra is still the ED-drug market leader. But Cialis, erectile dysfunction treatment drug, which lasts a day-and-a-half vs. a few hours for Viagra and Levitra, is most common ED and could become a $1 billion blockbuster drug this year.
