Levitra an oral prescription drug which is used to cure impotence which is also called erectile dysfunction. This pill has been approved in Europe since March 2003. The makers of Levitra Bayer AG and GlaxoSmithKline Plc have promised immense hope to treat erectile dysfunction effectively. For treating erectile dysfunction Levitra also received its regulatory approval from the European Commission. Levitra is the brand name for Vardenafil.

This medicine is a PDE - 5 inhibitor. Phosphodieterase type 5 is referred to as the predominate enzyme found in the erectile tissue which is linked to erections. Levitra works by blocking out this enzyme to lengthen the erectile process. Erectile Dysfunction is the failure of attaining or maintaining an erection which is required for satisfactory sexual activity.

Dosage

• Levitra should be taken as it has been directed by your doctor.
• Levitra starts working in about 30 minutes after its intake.
• Avoid taking this pill more than once a day, as it can lead to adverse side effects.
• Levitra can be taken with or without food.
• Take Levitra 60 minutes before sexual activity.

Precautions to be followed before starting with your dose of Levitra:

Do not take Levitra if you take any medicine containing nitrates as an active ingredient. Use caution in case of a past relating to a stroke, heart attack, low blood pressure, and angina. Avoid the intake of Levitra if you take any other medicine to treat erectile dysfunction.

Your doctor should be informed incase of:

• Anatomical deformation of the erectile organ
• Active peptic ulceration
• Renal impairment
• Retinal disorders
• Use of strong CYP3A4 inhibitors
• Liver disease
• Leukemia

Storage:

Levitra should be stored away from heat and moisture. All medications should be kept away from the reach of children.

Drug Interactions

Avoid the consumption of alcohol as it can cause dizziness. The intake of grape fruit and grape fruit juice should be avoided as it can increase the side effects of the drug. Do not take Levitra if you take any medicine containing nitrates. The intake of Levitra should be avoided if you take other pills to treat erectile dysfunction.
